Double down on the joy with Artyarns Double Mohair Ombré! This incredible new yarn consists of two threads of the highest quality Silk-Mohair blend we've ever found, plied together and then hand-painted by artisans with a totally unique technique resulting in long transitions between colours.

Think of it as a cross between gradient dyed yarn and variegated. It's completely new and can totally transform your knits!
(NB - Lauper is more of a variegated yarn, instead of Ombré.)

Many of our colourways are exclusive to Tribe. We've put a lot of thought into them and they are stunning. They really glow, and working with them is blissful!

We would classify the yarn as fingering weight although it has a whopping 566m per 90g, and our new Make Mine A Double Sweater is knit on 6mm needles! Which just goes to show its versatility. It would be great on such a huge range of needles (like 2.75mm - 8mm!).

Gorgeous, soft halo from the top-tier mohair, and fabulous lustre and shine from the high silk content (40% as compared to 28-30% in other brands of silk-mohair). This stuff isn't like your run-of-the-mill silk-mo.

Absolutely no scratchiness, no plastic/acrylic. This yarn has been hand-painted by artisans, not machine dyed, so each skein has depth and interest.

You'll automatically get a FREE pdf copy of Iris Schreier's gorgeous compilation of 5 patterns for this wonder yarn (all using just 1 skein for size small):
    • Light My Fire Sweater
    • Sandstone Striations Cardi
    • Color Surprise Sweater
    • Horseshoe Lace Wrap
    • Sonama Dreams Pullover

  • Ingredients:
60% Fine Kid Mohair, 40% Mulberry Silk

    Length:
    566m (620yd)

    Weight:
    90g

    Gauge:
Fingering/DK, although could be used on many needle sizes!

    Care:
We recommend hand washing non-superwash, hand-dyed yarns.

Although Artyarns are very consistent with their colourways, all hand-painted skeins are unique. If your project uses more than one skein, you may want to alternate / stripe the skeins.

Block / wash in lukewarm water with some wool wash, and lay flat to dry. Artyarns set their dyes with steaming and thoroughly rinsing but differing water temperatures and chemicals can cause some dye to bleed in any yarn.

If you're pairing light and dark colours, we recommend washing your swatch first to test for colour-fastness.

  • Artyarns was founded in 2002 by Iris Schreier, a celebrated knitwear author whose work appears in major knitting media outlets.
